How does Alice 12mg Tablet work?

Alice 12 binds to the muscle and nerve cells of worms, causing paralysis and death, thereby treating the infection.

Side Effects of Alice 12mg Tablet

Common side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms, nervous system/psychiatric symptoms, and skin reactions.

Quick Suggestions:

• Take Ivermectin on an empty stomach. Do not take in larger amounts than prescribed.
• Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable effects. Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor.
• Drink an adequate amount of water in order to reduce the risk of kidney damage.
• It is not recommended to use Ivermectin for children with a body weight of less than 15 kg for scabies (a skin disorder).
• Additionally, it is not recommended for use in children below 5 years of age for Onchocerciasis (affects vision) and in children below 12 years of age for Strongyloidiasis (abdominal pain, low blood count caused by worms) due to insufficient safety and efficacy data available for use in these populations.

Indication of Alice 12mg Tablet

It is used to treat:

• Intestinal strongyloidiasis
• Parasitic infection caused by Wuchereria bancrofti in blood and tissues
• Human scabies after previous treatment has failed
• Onchocerciasis (river blindness)

Pharmacology

Alice 12 mg selectively binds and with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells. This action increases the permeability of cell membranes to chloride ions, leading to hyperpolarization of the nerve or muscle cell and, ultimately, death of the parasite.

Dosage & Administration of Alice 12mg Tablet

• Strongyloidiasis: The recommended dosage is a single oral dose designed to provide approximately 200 mcg/kg of body weight.
• Onchocerciasis: The recommended dosage is a single oral dose designed to provide approximately 150 mcg of Alice 12 mg per kg of body weight.
• Pediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients weighing less than 15 kg have not been established.
• Geriatric Use: Clinical studies did not include sufficient numbers of subjects aged 65 and over to determine whether they respond differently.

Take Alice 12 as advised by your doctor, swallowing it whole on an empty stomach.

Interaction

Post-marketing reports have rarely shown increased INR (International Normalized Ratio) when Alice 12 mg was co-administered with warfarin.

Contraindications

Alice 12 mg is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this product.

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy Category C: Safety in pregnancy has not been established.
• Nursing Mothers: Alice 12 mg is excreted in human milk in low concentrations.

Precautions & Warnings

• Microfilaricidal drugs like Alice 12 mg may cause systemic reactions and ophthalmological reactions in patients with onchocerciasis.
• Patients with hyperreactive onchodermatitis may be more likely to experience severe adverse reactions.
